Basic results of investigations in physiology and biochemistry of productive animals of the North (to the 25th anniversary of the Institute of physiology, Komi science centre, Ural branch, RAS)

The basic results of more than fifty years of ivestigations in physiology and biochemistry of productive animals of the North, being one of the scientific directions developed at the Institute of Physiology, organized in February 1988, are summarized. The results of experimental studies in physiology of digestion, metabolism and energy, reproductive function in ruminants in context of history of formation and development of physiological science in the Komi Science Centre are generalized. Peculiarities of physiological and biochemical adaptation of wild animals to the extreme conditions of the North are given.
