The main development stages of the procedure on revision of judicial acts in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods

The article considers development of the institution of newly discovered evidence during Soviet and post-Soviet periods. It also assesses the type of legal formalization of the procedure regulating the reopening of a case upon newly discovered evidence. Based on the comprehensive historical research of legal acts, the paper analyzes the causes of substitution of the true purpose of the revision under consideration. In addition, by case study of the court practice of that period, the author summarizes the main gaps in the regulation of the considered procedure.
