The article covers main areas of the humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Japan in the late 20 th - early 21 st centuries. The author considers factors promoting propagation of the Russian literature and theater art in Japan, defines forms of interaction of the two countries in the cultural, educational and touristic fields.
