The Main Directions and Trends of Organized Crime in Russia

The article analyzes current trends in organized crime in Russia based on the data revealed during the discussion. The issues of globalization of criminal groups, fusion of organized crime and corruption, adaptation to digital technologies and economic conditions are considered. The authors substantiate the conclusion about the insufficient effectiveness of existing criminal law measures related to the imperfection of the legislative framework, difficulties in law enforcement and high latency, and argue for the need for an integrated approach. The role of civil society and improving the legal literacy of the population in countering organized crime is emphasized. The article substantiates the need to move from predominantly punitive measures to strategies aimed at eliminating the underlying causes of crime, humanizing the penitentiary system and supporting the social reintegration of former prisoners. Ways to improve anti-corruption legislation and increase the effectiveness of law enforcement activities are proposed.
