The main directions of ensuring transport security

One of the priority directions of law enforcement agencies is the prevention of criminality, the effectiveness of which largely depends on the proper scientific support. Criminological researches allow revealing new criminal threats on time, the main directions of ensuring transport security and to develop the appropriate measures in combating criminality. In the article the author analyzes the concept “transport security” taking in account various points of view; it also reviewed the issues of ensuring transport security from criminal occurrences. The results of research of the official statistical data of the Main Infor- mation-Analytical Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs allowed, including combating particularly serious crimes, crimes of ecological orientation, terrorist nature and extremist orientation, illegal drug trade among the main directions of preventive activities of transport facilities. Determination of the designated areas as priorities is due to the growth of their relative and absolute indicators, exceeding the all-Russian growth. Attention is paid to the characteristics of criminality at the facilities of operational services. Regional statistical data for the last five years - from 2013 to 2017 are focused.
