The emergence of the grand coalition in the FRG in 1966 as a qualitatively new stage of coalition relations

The article examines the emergence of the grand coalition in the FRG in 1966. The reasons for its emergence and the main tasks facing it are determined. The author comes to the conclusion that the grand coalition was a compromise political decision designed to unite the efforts of the two largest parties in the Bundestag and proved its worth.
