The Federal project «Export of agricultural products» aims to create a new commodity mass of agricultural products by increasing the share of products with high added value. The agricultural sector is set to increase its export volume by almost two times to $ 45 billion by 2024. To expand exports, it is necessary to promote regional brands and develop marketing, and increase the popularity of Russian products with geographical identification to the level of foreign ones. At the same time, with all the positive effects expected from the growth of exports of food products and agricultural raw materials, let us pay attention to the impact of export supplies on economic growth. We have considered the possibility of increasing exports of foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials with the increase in food consumption of the population in the achievement of recommended levels of consumption, population growth according to the «high» forecast of Rosstat, the reduction in imports of 2 times in the light of the decision of tasks on import substitution. Another aspect of export expansion is maintaining prices on the domestic market. The article presents comparative data on average prices in retail trade, agricultural producers, and foreign trade. In retail trade, prices are 2-3 times higher than export prices and prices of agricultural producers. Export prices are growing at a slower rate than retail and producer prices. A gradual alignment of export and domestic prices will limit export opportunities. Agricultural producers need to reduce the cost of production, and the state needs to regulate retail prices more effectively. It is necessary to expand the export of food products and agricultural raw materials not at any cost, but to meet the needs of our own population as a priority.
