The article discusses the development of Christian social and economic doctrine given the increasing contradictions between labor and capital at the turn of the 20th Century. The article shows the peculiarities of the social views of Pope Leo XIII and Hieromartyr Vladimir (Bogoyavlensky), Metropolitan of Kiev and Galicia. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that Christian social doctrine is called to be a source of unity in the face of conflicts that arise in the social and economic spheres.
