The main trends in the development of Russian ballet in the second half of the XVIII century - the 20th of the XIX century

The article deals with the initial period of the origin of ballet in Russia and the main trends inherent in this process. Among the trends of ballet studies in the second half of XVIII century - 20th of the XIX century should be highlighted: introduction to the world of artistic thought; the appearance of the first work dedicated to the history of the Russian ballet; approval of the conceptual apparatus of ballet studies as a science; the appearance of the first theoretical publications in the press about the choreography, affirming equality of ballet among the other arts; the emergence of the first reviews of ballet performances and the performances of the dancers in the periodical.
