Main trends in the development of the leasing market in Russia

Some often believe that leasing is a long-term lease, while others come to the opinion that leasing is only one form of long - term lease. At the same time, many equate leasing relations with hired or contract transactions for the purchase and sale of machinery and equipment. In this regard, the authors of this publication assess the current state of the Russian leasing market and identify the main trends in its development in Russia. According to the authors, the present state of Affairs was formed under the influence of various factors, and most often they were more negative than they brought positive aspects. These include the imperfection of the current regulatory framework, the later development of the leasing market relative to Western countries, increased risks of participants in a leasing transaction, difficulties in attracting funds to Finance leasing transactions, etc.
