Main trends of the population’s health indicators in the Russian Federation and the Vologda oblast

The understanding of reasons in persistent change of indicators, characterizing the physical health of population, is necessary for making optimal managerial decisions, as well as for elaboration of strategies and programmes of socio-economic development of territories. The article presents the trends of such indicators of physical health as mortality, life expectancy, morbidity and disability of population.Based onthe official statistical data the author conductsthe comparativeanalysisofcharacteristics concerning physical health of population in the Russian Federation, the Northwestern Federal District and the Vologda Oblast. Studying of physical health on the ground of statistical data allows to formulate several conclusions. The growth trend of life expectancy during 2000 - 2013 was characteristic for both Russia in general (the increase equaled 8%), and for its regions. The structure of mortality according to the causes of death in the Vologda Oblast was similar to the structure of the Northwestern Federal District and the whole country, where the leading positions belonged to the vascular heart diseases. The identical trends of mortality rates from several reasons were observed as well: on all territories under consideration during 2000 - 2013 there was a reduction of mortality from circulatory diseases, external causes and suicides. During the same period the primary disease incidence rate increased both in Russia generally (by 9%), and in the Northwestern Federal District (by 13%) and in the Vologda Oblast (by 2%). The spread of disability among the population was increasing - the growth of indicator concerning the number of disabled people per 1000 people equaled 25% in the Russian Federation, 20% in the Northwestern Federal District and 38% in the Vologda Oblast.
