The article deals with analyzing the role of domestic and foreign grunt funding for the progress of Russian social science and humanities (based on the Web of Science data). It considers quantitative and qualitative composition of the Russian publications that are contained in the Web of Science; and evaluates the relevance of the grunt funding for various fields of Russian social science and humanities.
