The effect of thinning on hydrophysical properties and root content of the soil was studied. It was determined that temperature conditions for the root system development are generally more favorable in the area of skid roads than on Logging sites. We found out that even 14 years after the felling the soil in the area of skid roads remained more compact in comparison to its natural state, which consequently impedes root growth in the areas.
