Based on the analysis of mosses, the results of accumulation of radionuclides of natural 40K, 90Y, 226Ra, 232Th and artificial 90Sr, 137Cs origin in various natural zones of Russia were obtained. The research made it possible to assess the radiation situation and collect scientific information to predict the possible radiological consequences of radioactive substances entering the environment. The most polluted areas for artificial radionuclides 137Cs and 90Sr were the cities of Orenburg and Chita. Given that mosses are able to protect the environment from the accumulation of radionuclides and are indicators of pollution, thanks to mosses, it is possible to record the ecological purity of different regions of the country.
