Cognitive disorders attract increased attention not only from neurologists and psychiatrists, but also from doctors of general therapeutic practice. This is due to several reasons. Firstly, in the modern age of high technology and total computerization, special requirements are imposed on cognitive functions. Society as a whole and each individual is interested in extending cognitive capabilities. Secondly, over the past decades, many pathogenetic and biochemical aspects of cognitive dysfunction have become clearer and drugs have appeared to correct these disorders. Thirdly, an increase in average life expectancy in developed countries has led to an increase in the elderly part of the population, and age is known to be the strongest independent risk factor for cognitive impairment.
