The features of fostering ethnic tolerance in senior preschool children within the framework of public education

The article deals with the conceptual fundamentals of fostering ethnic tolerance in senior preschool children within the framework of public education. We made a distinction between theoretical approaches to this problem in the Russian and foreign researches. The mechanisms and conditions for development ethnic tolerance, formation ethnic identity of children in poly- and mono-ethnic educational environment were analyzed. Our study indicated some negative effects of modeling learning environment by modern educational institutions, such as lack of teachers with the sufficient level of ethnic-cultural competence. The empirical research data showed the potential of parents and educators in fostering ethnic tolerance in senior preschool children under the conditions of polyethnic educational environment.
