Hematogenous metastasis depending on histologic tumor pattern in thyroid cancer

The study included 296 breast cancer patients (T1-4N0-2M0) aged 28-80 years. Risk for the development of hemetogenous metastases in bones and liver was shown to be increased when trabecular/tubular ratio (Tr/Tu ratio) was equal to 2 in cases of both single and multiple metastases. Risk for the development of lung hematogenous metastases depended no upon Tr/Tu ratio. The presence of microalveolar and solid structures or discretely located cells is of no significance for predicting the hematogenous metastasis development. Thus, Tr/Tu ratio can be considered as a prognostic factor for assessing the risk of breast cancer hematog-enous metastases in bones and liver.
