Features and priorities of China’s foreign policy in the Middle East

The purpose of this study is to analyze the features of modern China’s foreign policy in the Middle East which is based on the unique diplomatic strategies developed by Chinese politicians over the long historical term. The research examines major foreign policy tasks of the PRC in relation to the countries of the Middle East, the specific nature of the relationships between them, and China’s geopolitical strategy in the region. The authors consider the main objectives and principles of China’s relations with Arab States. The results of Xi Jinping’s visit to the Middle East in January 2016 and the regional interests of China in future are analyzed. The authors believe that China will promote the long-term economic projects in the region and have a strong interest in a stable environment in the Middle East guided by their own pragmatic interests. The intensification of China’s policy in the Arab world shows that the time of Chinese strategic concessions to the West is over.
