The specifics of immigration policy in Canada: historical, cultural, economic and legal aspects

The purpose of this study is a comprehensive analysis of the Canadian policy of integration of migrants. The subject of this article is historical, economic, cultural and legal features of the Canadian multiculturalism. Special attention is paid to com- parative analysis of the immigration policies of several countries in the Western Europe and Canada. The article reveals the essence of the relationship between the process of formation of the Canada-wide culture and the evo- lution of the regulatory framework of Canada in the field of regulation of external migration. The author has estimated the mechanism of the influence of liberal values on the Canadian political and legal reality. The paper contains the features of the Canadian multicultural society. The stages of evolution of the legal framework of Canada in the sphere of the regulation of external migration are fully described. The author has studied in detail the reasons for the refusal of this country from Anglo-centric policy of immigration, including economic factors. When revealing the stated problems, the author uses the following research methods. The application of the dialectical method of cognition has helped to investigate the evolution of models of integration of migrants, to identify the causes that influenced the development of multiculturalism in Canada. Using the methods of analysis and synthesis, the author has explored such political and legal phenomena as assimilation and cultural pluralism, economic performance of labor migrants. When studying of the development of the multicultural model of immigration policy in Canada, the author has used the system method of studying that allows him to select the criteria for the competence of immigrants to the economic needs of the country under consideration.
