Peculiarities of media information agenda on ecology of the industrial region

The article studies the peculiarities of media information agenda on ecology of an industrial region. The empirical base of the study includes media texts of the Chelyabinsk Oblast online media 74.ru and 1obl.ru (January-December 2022). The content analysis presents environmental information agenda of these media outlets which included 227 media texts. As a result, 18 thematic headings were identified including general environmental issues, international cooperation, environmental basics of human life among others. The study demonstrated that the largest number of media texts (more than 70.0 %) is devoted to the topics of air pollution and protection, water bodies, and waste management. At the same time, the online portal 74.ru pays more attention to destructive information occasions and concentrates more on negative aspects of environmental phenomena. The most popular rubric here is air and water pollution. Moreover, the style of material presentation is largely predetermined by the acuteness of environmental problems and is related to the statement of problems (70.0 %). Only a quarter of the news items disclose the way of solving environmental problems. As for the news portal 1obl.ru, it covers a wider range of environmental problems highlighting not only problems, but also their solutions.
