Distinctive features of a “Ponsse” harvester head adjustment

The “harvester-forwarder” technology is nowadays widely applied among the logging enterprises of the Arkhangelsk region. This article presents the results of a study concerning accuracy of registration of the assortments processed with the on-board computer of a “PONSSE” harvester head. The authors compared the computer data to results of a “piece-by-piece” measurement of the round wood assortments produced within the sample logging and bucking operation. The dimensions and quality of assortments were evaluated in correspondence with the actual Russian standards. The results of the study substantiate the necessity of the periodical adjustments of a harvester head computer device.
