Features of cellular immunity in children environmentally exposed to toluene, formaldehyde and phenol

In this study, we assessed the impact of toluene, formaldehyde and phenol on cellular immunity markers in children, living in heavily industrialized areas of the Perm Region. Among the target cells of environmental exposure to the chemical substances are such immunocompetent cells as lymphocytes. The detected imbalance of lymphocyte subpopulations in the children exposed to toluene, formaldehyde and phenol indicates the absence of adequate immune response to the hapten, relative immunodeficiency and the inability of the immune system to respond to antigens.
