Pertussis features in adults and problems in the differential diagnosis of cough: a clinical observation

The article deals with the issues of diagnosis and clinical features of pertussis in adults, traditionally considered a pediatric infection. On the example of a clinical case, the problems of atypical course of the disease, difficulties in differential diagnosis of pertussis with respiratory infections, leading to diagnostic errors and delay in adequate treatment are analyzed. The results of the study are the identification of key factors complicating diagnosis and confirmation of the need to include pertussis in the list of possible causes of prolonged cough in adults for timely treatment and prevention of complications.
