The current situation in our country in the control and supervisory sphere, despite the changes and additions made to the current legislation with regard to the full and timely detection of offenses, cannot be called desirable for any economic entity: the state, society, consumers, manufacturers. This state of affairs is due to the lack of a single coordinating basis, both at the municipal and state levels, which, in turn, does not allow the formation of a sufficient list of regulatory functions and the development of clear control mechanisms. Practical experience of the EU member states can be considered very useful in this regard, where the main components of control and supervisory activities based on a risk-based approach are enshrined in national legislation and bring effective results in ensuring the safety and high quality of consumer goods. The article studied the specifics of the control and supervisory activities carried out in the countries of the European Union: goals and objectives, principles and leading components, the legal and regulatory framework of official control, the structure and features of the activities of the competent authorities. Special attention was paid to early warning systems. In the context of this article, a legal approach and methods of analysis and synthesis were used. The conclusion reflected the brief conclusions based on the results of the work done.
