The article is devoted to the development of theoretical views of Soviet lawyers of 1920-1930-ies on law and its role in the functioning of the Soviet state. The author marks out the key features of the sociological "barter" concept of law by E.B. Pashukanis, which defines law as a form of material economic relations.
