The article analyzes the peculiarities of national identity on the example of modern Buryats as a specific ethno community. It is shown that the processes of national identification in relation to the Buryats are complex and ambiguous, they have inner contradictory character. This phenomenon represents a multidimensional, multilevel design for today: clan and patrimonial, religious and confessional (Buddhists and Shamans), language, including dialect forms, territorial and block (in dichotomy borders "the western and eastern Buryats”), actually national, Baikal, Siberian, all-Russian identity. As a result of such "multystoried" integration modern Buryats are a peculiar ethnosocial integrity for which multiidentity is inherent. Therefore the complete analysis of a problem including, first of all, multilevel approach allows to receive display of this phenomenon in necessary completeness and features.
