Features of the narrative organization of A. Matveeva’s novel «Every hundred years: a novel with a diary»

In this article, based on the material of the novel «Every Hundred Years: A Novel with a Diary» by the popular contemporary writer Anna Matveeva, the features of the narrative organization of the works are analyzed. The work of A. Matveeva has been repeatedly awarded with significant literary prizes, so the interest in her work from philological science is natural. A. Matveeva’s novels have a specific type of narrator; the narrator is a female character who obviously has autobiographical features. Determining the specificity of the narrator in A. Matveeva’s novels is of particular interest from the point of view of describing the features of the so-called female narrative. The heroines of A. Matveeva’s novels are city women with humanitarian professions and an artistic nature, which determines a special narrative focus in which personal destiny, immersed in social problems, is tightly fused with creative activity. The female narrative in the novels of A. Matveeva expresses a specific female model of perception of the surrounding reality, associated with the problems of female existence in everyday life and in society. The narrative diary model chosen in the novel «Every Hundred Years: A Novel with a Diary» sets a special speech intonation and makes it possible to reveal the deep and hidden thoughts of the heroines. Wedged into the narrative structure of Anna Matveeva’s novel is her personal narrative, connected with her creativity and professional interest.
