Features of noninvasive ventilation (literature review)

As a result of pathological changes, there is a severe discrepancy between ventilation and perfusion, leading to the appearance of a right-to-left shunt, often with severe arterial hypoxemia. If the damage to the capillary bed is systemic, a violation of oxygen delivery to the tissues and a violation of its utilization in the mitochondria lead to diffuse hypoxic cellular damage and the development of multiple organ failure.
