The teaching of reading of profession-related texts in a foreign language at the technical university

The article deals with the features of teaching of reading of occupation-related texts in a foreign language at the technical university by case study of the "Foreign Language" course in a technical university. The authors emphasise the importance of studying of reading as one of the conditions of the qualitative training of future professionals, as well as the role of authentic texts in the development of oral communication skills in a foreign language. The paper considers the requirements imposed to the profession-related texts, and the principles of foreign language teaching focused on professional communication in a foreign language in the university.
