The problems of production of copper alloys containing easily oxidized and volatile elements (Cr, Zr, Cd, Zn, Si etc.) cast bars are considered. The possible methods for adding alloying elements to the melt are analyzed. The kinetics of chromium dissolution in the molten copper and its distribution over the cross section and length of the ingot during a semicontinuous casting is studied. In addition the effect of flux coating in the crystallizer at semicontinuous casting on the structure and properties of complex-brasses is researched. The obtained data are a basis for the development of technology of melting and semicontinuous casting of copper alloys.
