Statement of the problem. Researchers studying the causes of domestic violence are interested in studying the negative personality traits in female victims of violence. Therefore, a combination of personality traits such as Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy is the most informative for their study. This article presents data on the personality traits of women experiencing domestic violence, based on the Short Dark Triad Questionnaire. Differential diagnosis of the Dark Triad psychological patterns presents certain difficulties when applied to victims of violence. Determining the influence and manifestation of negative personality traits in women surviving prolonged trauma is an important issue. At the same time, these specific negative personality traits of violence victims can contribute to their involvement in abusive relationships. This issue is particularly important because the various psychological patterns and coping mechanisms among women in situations of violence can make it difficult to find adequate therapy for this group. The purpose of this article is to identify and substantiate the specific manifestations of negative personality traits in women experiencing domestic violence. The methodology of the research is based on the integration of systemic, interdisciplinary, and competence-based approaches. The main research methods are defined as the study and analysis of scientific research works by Russian and foreign scientists on the problem under study. To study the personal characteristics of the respondents, the Short questionnaire of the Dark Triad by M.S. Egorova, M.A. Sitnikova, O.V. Parshikova was used. Research results. A clinical and psychological examination of 75 women was conducted. All the women who participated in the study were divided into two groups according to age. The first group included 35 respondents aged 19 to 28. The second group consisted of 30 women aged 35 to 50 years. All the women involved in the study had documented cases of domestic violence. The results of the study showed that the manifestation of the traits of the Dark Triad in victims of domestic violence is a multifaceted process due to the fact that a woman is constantly in survival mode and begins to use any opportunities available to her. The manifestation of personal character traits in the form of Machiavellianism in female victims of violence indicates that this character trait has developed as a result of a prolonged traumatic situation. The manifestation of narcissism in a group of younger female victims of violence is formed to maintain a positive image of themselves as individuals: the psyche of a young victim triggers a protective mechanism – narcissistic resentment and grandiosity. Victims of domestic violence begin to use psychopathic personality traits in communication, such as emotional coldness and lack of empathy. Conclusion. The obtained and proposed results of the study allow us to confirm the importance of individualized psychological assessment of negative personality traits in women victims of domestic violence for the purposes of preventing domestic violence and providing effective psychological rehabilitation.
