The article deals with the specific features of the work on vocabulary learning in a foreign language class. It analyzes the main strategies and principles, examples of traditional and modern methods of new vocabulary memorizing, their advantages and disadvantages. The author considers the practical experience of work with the vocabulary in teaching of German as a first foreign language, and in the course of simultaneous study of two foreign languages (German and English).
