Functioning peculiarities of pulsed electron-beam-controlled (EBC) CO laser, which is pumped by LC transmission line

Electron-beam-controlled (EBC) CO laser, whose main discharge is pumped by LC transmission line, is described. The usage of the line allows to decrease considerably significance of hyper-elastic collisions between discharged electrons and vibrationally excited CO molecules. The difference between output radiation time-dependencies of EBC CO laser supplied by LC transmission line and those dependencies for the laser, which is equipped with capacitor bank, was detected. It is demonstrated that under the same conditions the efficiency of laser pumped by LC transmission line (h ? 22% at T = 140K for proportion of mixture CO:N = 1:19) was higher then the efficiency of laser with capacitor bank (h ? 15%). It is noted that2 comparing with laser equipped with capacitor the use of LC transmission line makes it possible to increase the quantity of vibrational-rotary lines of laser radiation spectrum significantly. The mechanism of this difference is discussed. It is concluded that comparing with laser equipped with capacitor bank the use of LC transmission line for pumping allows to decrease considerably (by a factor of ~105) the destruction probability of titanium foil, which separates the electron gun of EBC CO from the laser discharge chamber.
