This article considers the consequences of radioactive pollution of the Russian Federation, including the Orel region in consequence of the Chernobyl accident. According to the results of the research it is revealed that in the Orel region different types of soil cultivation, for example plowing and application of fertilizers, influence uneven distribution of 137Cs in the soil. Nearly 30 years after the accident, distribution of the radionuclide on the soils of different structure, meadows, long-fallow lands and arable land has considerably changed.
