Postoperative 99mTc-pertechnetate and 99mTc-MIBI scintigraphy for suspected thyroid cancer recurrence was performed in 34 patients underwent radical surgery. The recurrence was detected in 24 patients, no recurrence was found in 10 patients. Efficacy of radionuclide imaging for suspected thyroid cancer recurrence was estimated by sensitivity – 62.5 %, specificity – 80.0 % and total accuracy – 67.6 %. The technique was found to be less effective if a size of a recurrent tumor is less than 1 centimeter.

Postoperative relapse of thyroid cancer, radionuclide diagnostics, 99mtc-пертехнетат, 99mtc-технетрил, size of relapsed cancer nodules, 99mtc-pertechnetate, 99mtc-mibi
