The specifics of circular economy development in Russia

The closed-loop economy is one of the most important concepts that the Russian government is focused on. The introduction of alternative models to the linear model of economy is in line with the environmental agenda and contributes to the improvement of living standards of citizens, as well as supports economic growth while reducing resource consumption. The subject of the study is the process of implementation of the closed-loop economy in the Russian Federation. The aim of the work is to analyse possible obstacles and contradictions in the implementation of the concept of circular design and identify trends in their change. The empirical base of the study is the analytical data of the Association for the Promotion of the Closed Loop Economy. The study uses theoretical research methods, drawing analogies between the phenomena in the linear model of economy and circular economy, comparative analysis, generalisation of data. The main method of research is analysis. As a result of the study, the factors constraining the implementation of the circular economy were identified and systematised.
