Specific features of social and economic development of the Lower Volga region in the second half of the XIXth century (based on the material of the Tsaritsyn uyezd)

The article deals with the issues of the social and economic development of the Lower Volga region in the reform period. The peculiarities of the development are considered at the example of the Tsaritsyn uyezd of the Saratov province. The important stage of the development of the region is the railway construction, uniting the Lower Volga region with the central districts of the country. There is demonstrated the connection between the development of the transport infrastructure and the rise of the level of the social and economic development of the region.
