The paper deals with the description of soil resources of mountainous and low-lying (agricultural) areas in the Jewish Autonomous region. The soil diversity is characterized according to the substantive-genetic (profile-genetic) principles of the new Russian soil classification system. The author considers actual problems of agrarian utilization of soils in the Jewish Autonomous Region in the new social-economic conditions.
