The paper analyzes fatherhood transformation in the Soviet period of time as a result of the party-and-state policy regarding family institute. The authors discuss the influence of the USSR legislation on the changing of the role of fathers in soviet families, and the status of the soviet father. The issues of the fatherhood, which emerged during the Soviet period, are considered to remain relevant for the present Russian society.
