Cervical cancer incidence among females of Chita region (Russia)

The review presents the results of epidemiological analysis of cervical cancer incidence among females of the regions of Siberia and the Russian Far East with special emphasis on the Chita region over the study interval 1994-2008. The average cervical cancer incidence rate in the regions of Siberia and Far East is 20-30 % higher than that registered in Russian Federation as a whole. The highest rates of cervical cancer incidence were found in the Chita region. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer after breast cancer. The incidence rate for cervical cancer is highest for those aged 25-44. The cervical cancer incidence rate shows a tendency to increase in females of the regions of Siberia and the Russian Far East that is especially noticed in Chita region.
