Features of personality hardiness of youth prone to suicide behavior

The article deals with the problem of suicide behavior from the perspective of factors of suicide risk and suicide prevention. The authors consider the personality hardiness as a factor preventing the risk of suicidality. In this aspect hardiness is presented as a strong personal resource of coping with the negative impacts of stressful situations and, thus, of suicide behavior risk prevention. The empirical study was conducted for the purpose of feature analysis of the personality hardiness interrelations of youth with high level of propensity for suicide behavior. An empirical study was conducted on the basis of the Dimitrovgrad Institute of Engineering Technology in 2017 and 2018. It was attended by 80 students aged 18-20, among them 40 boys and 40 girls. With the aim to analyze the components of hardiness of the youth who took part in the study, the authors made comparison of the average mean of hardiness components and the common level of hardiness of the youth prone to suicide behavior and the youth undisposed suicide behavior with the use of statistical test t-student. The results of the study show that the reduced level of hardiness leads to the increase of inner intenseness in stressful situations which increases the propensity to suicide behavior.
