Is the extent of the Soviet casualties in 1941-1945 still debatable?

This article traces the origins and evolution of the official statistic data of the Soviet casualties in the Great Patriotic war (since 1946 to the present, these data have been changed several times). The article provides critical analysis of the different methods of calculations of the human losses. The author proposes clear distinction between the definitions "victims of war" and "natural mortality"; reveals the proportion of the military to civilian victims of war. Special attention is paid to debunking various myths and legends on the extent of Soviet human losses in 1941-1945.
