Long-term outcomes in patients with pulmonary embolism receiving thrombolytic and anticoagulant agents

We analyzed the dynamics of the right heart overload in 71 patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) and medium-to-high risk of death, receiving therapy with thrombolytic and anticoagulant drugs. Thrombolytic therapy in patients with PE is associated with a more rapid onset of vessel recanalization in the pulmonary circulation and a decreased impact on the right heart, which reduces the risk of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension by 2.5 times in the long-term prognosis.
