Remote results of combined photon-neutron therapy of malignant tumours of the head and neck in the Ural center of neutron therapy

The analysis of effectiveness of combined photon-neutron therapy (CPNT) in 589 cases of head and neck cancer was held. Common one year survival rate of patients who overcome a course of CPNT was 95 %, three years - 86 %, five years - 78 %. Non-recidive annual survival rate has made 88 %, three year - 58 %, five years - 48 %. Frequency of beam reactions in compared groups was practically identical. Recidives of disease in overwhelming majority of cases arose in the first 2 years after after the treatment. Modernization of the Neutron Therapy Center in 2003-05 permitted to highly increased the nearest results. Non-recidive survival rate in group of the patients who have received CPNT after modernization of a complex has made 96 % versus 88 % in group of the patients who have received treatment in the center of neutron therapy up to 2003.
