National historiography of the Greek Catholic Union of Brest in the 1880-90's: flourishing of the official concept

The article analyses features of the significant stage in the studying the Union of Brest history by orthodox historiography of pre-revolutionary times. There have been defined the reasons for aroused research interest to the phenomenon of Uniatism of the XV-XV centuries in the 1880-90s. The article has shown the indeterminacy of scientific heritage of traditionalistic national historiography issue.
