Homeland detective story: formulaic approach or borrowing?

The article compares the structure of the detectives “The Hound of the Baskervilles” by A. Conan Doyle and “Unidentified Walking Object” by T. Polyakova. It concludes that Polyakova’s novel is written according to the scheme created by Conan Doyle; the illusion of novelty appears due to the variability of the period and scene of action, crime motives, etc.
