Refusal of the newborn as a form of deviant maternity

The article is devoted to the search of effective approach for the study of the problem of refusal of the newborn. The author presume that it is possible to use an experience and methods of deviant maternity studies. The author examines such approaches as structural functionalism (analysis of family dysfunctions), socialization, role theory, behaviorism, rational choice theory. All theories allow describing refusal of newborn phenomenon. That proves that refusal of the newborn is a kind of deviant maternity phenomenon.
