The article is concerned with spread and strengthening of the Orthodox faith in Siberia by establishment of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tobolsk. The author emphasizes role of the Siberian eparchy established by archbishop Kiprian, as well as cooperation between Russian state and local officials and spiritual authority. The undertaken research considers Moscow monarch and government's interest in the Orthodox entrenchment in Siberia as a key factor of the new geopolitical area development, which is a characterizing feature of the Russian political situation of the early 17 th century.
