Distinctive legal and social features of execution and sentence with respect to juvenile offenders condemned to detention

The article is devoted to topical problems in the sphere of execution and serving of sentences in the form of imprisonment in relation to minors. The author examines the peculiarities of the activity of educational colonies as specialized closed-type correctional institutions for the maintenance of persons sentenced to imprisonment and who have not reached the age of eighteen by the time of the conviction. The article provides statistical data illustrating the features of juvenile delinquency, having analyzed which, the author considers the possible ways of developing the problem raised. The purpose of the study is to determine the characteristics of the execution and serving of sentences in relation to minors sentenced to imprisonment; analysis of the peculiarities of the activity of educational colonies; analysis of statistical data; searching for possible ways of developing the problem under consideration. The object of the presented article is the social relations developing in connection with ensuring the legal status of convicted juveniles serving sentences in educational colonies. When writing the article, sociological, statistical and other research methods were used. It should be noted that modern educational colonies are an important social institution, where a system of personal socialization and rehabilitation of convicts is built at the legislative level. The problem of social adaptation of minors released from places of confinement is a state task, and it cannot be successfully solved without clear interaction between state structures and civil society institutions. For this, it seems, it is necessary to consolidate all the forces of society and develop an appropriate legal framework, providing for the regulation of issues of their interaction at the legislative level.
