Attitude to migration, the non-indigenous population and cultural integration in the Altai region (by results of sociological surveys and media analysis)

The article presents the results of empirical sociological research of the local population attitudes to migration, the non-indigenous population and cultural integration in the border region, on the example of the Altai region. The authors describe the character of interethnic relations and the existing migrant-phobia. It is shown that negative public reactions towards migrants are formed not only under the influence of the media, but also due to relatively stable ethnic stereotypes and the level of public satisfaction with individual living conditions.
